Hello, and welcome to the online home of Leek Guitar Tuition.

I took up the guitar back in 1973 when my brother gave me an acoustic and spent many happy hours learning my first chords from him. I soon developed an interest in various styles of guitar music. I studied classical guitar for several years and achieved grade 8.

I teach all abilities and all ages at competitive rates. Lessons are one-to-one so there is no pressure and you can learn at your own pace in a friendly well equipped environment.

Learning guitar should be fun, rewarding and something that can be enjoyed for life.  I also offer gift vouchers which can be used as Birthday or Christmas presents.

During Lockdown I moved just 4 miles down the road to the lovely village of Cheddleton where I am now based.

 

I launched Leek Guitar Tuition in November 1985 and have had over 39 years experience teaching hundreds of people young and not so young to play the guitar. Over the years I have gained experience of different learning styles and I am always willing to adapt the lessons to fit in with the way the student wishes to learn.

My family and friends will tell you that I have been passionate about guitars from a very early age and I always try to pass my enthusiasm and determination to succeed on to my students.

Many of my students play steel strung acoustic and electric guitars and I cover styles ranging from pop, blues, rock, folk and a little jazz.

I teach beginners to intermediate level on these instruments and can provide the necessary instrumental tuition for students preparing for GCSE and A level music examinations. Lessons are delivered in an informal atmosphere, student and tutor working together to achieve what the student needs and wants.

Although most of my students play purely for fun, many of my classical guitar students have successfully passed Trinity College London (Classical), RGT LCM Acoustic,  and Rockschool RSL exams ranging from grades 1 to 8.
